This Richmond staple has had its doors open since 1956 and proudly serves up hot-off-the-grill comfort food to its loyal patrons. Dan and I have stopped by for breakfast almost every time we've visited Richmond and even bought one of their Village Cafe drink pitchers to grace our kitchen. Their food is exactly what you'd expect from a local diner -- simple, tasty and made with love. It was even featured on an episode of Guy Fieri's 'Diners, Drive In's and Dives.'
When we've gone, I've stuck with sweet foods and Dan tends to go for savory! I highly recommend their banana pancakes and French toast. We've also been both before and during the pandemic and have found the cafe to be great with enforcing social distancing within the restaurant. They require masks when you aren't eating and have roped off every other table to enforce distance. I definitely appreciate restaurants who make a point to follow the rules and keep both their workers and patrons safety a priority!
